Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22nd, 1984 in New York City New York. She is an American actress/singer whose versatility has won her recognition across many kinds of genres, from thrillers to action films to period dramas. Johansson was the daughter of an architect and producer, was born in New York City. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. She developed an interest in acting at an early age auditioning for commercials by age seven. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. In her early years she appeared in Sophistry alongside Ethan Hawke and made her film debut in Rob Reiner's North on the set of Rob Reiner's North in. Johansson subsequently appeared in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) which was a film about siblings who are orphaned and run away. The Horse Whisperer (2000) where she was the role of a teenage girl who has a deformity caused by an accident, earned an acclaim from critics. Then in Ghost World 2001 (as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca) Johansson received the attention of a whole new generation.
